Carbon capture and storage for carbon-neutral homes was ranked sixth in the Opportunities for Business report of opportunities for UK business to value and protect nature's services.

The report says that in 2007, the government announced that all new homes wold be zero carbon from 2016 (more information from the Zero Carbon Hub).

In order to meet this, carbon will need to be captured and stored and this could be acheived by allowing developers to buy certficiates in new woodland or peatland restoration.

This offers a way of meeting an existing government committment, helps homebuilders to deliver the committment, will benefit small and large farm and woodland owners and will improve the wildlife value of woods and peatlands and may even help to reduce flooding.
